The Parterre Garden and Hornbeam vista

This is one of the gardens at the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens.

The parterre garden is formal gardening style, and involves intricate geometric designs of clipped hedges and carpet bedding.

They're typically meant not to be seen from the ground, but from a terrace or balcony above, and are seen most often in old European estates.

Beyond the parterre garden is a "vista": an expansive view created by long rows of trees. In this case, the vista was created by plantings of hornbeam trees, planted back in the 30s(I think...). At the very end is a large urn filled with annuals, which helps give the sense of distance.
